Every Soul Is Unique is a co-creative musical play, performed by 70 children from the Auroville area, including children from outreach programs and special needs school. Fakeera, the creator, was moved to use the interplay of art, personal healing and spontaneous expression in a manner that would be a joyful opportunity for the children’s growth, using the medium of performing arts to reflect their accomplishments back to the children.

The team is a multitalented collective supported by one of Auroville’s dynamic youth groups, Youthlink. The members of the collective have experience in theater, music and trauma healing. They brought their experiences and gifts to work with a special project encompassing 70 children from Auroville areas school. Read about it below.

“We have been creating an incredible project in Auroville based on inclusivity within the diversity of our community. This unique project is a musical play including 70 participants from Auroville, outreach and special needs schools.

The stories and songs are written and co-created by the participants. As facilitators our intention is to share the magic of love and creativity and for the kids to see how gifted they are. It’s beautiful when we are able to put these seeds of love, self worth, inclusion, acceptance, trust and creativity from a young age – it creates magic. So we took the initiative to work with all the kids in our community.

The sessions are centred in helping the kids connect deeper with themselves, their emotions, access their spontaneity and creativity and work within many group dynamics. Feedback from the kids and their parents has been around how much openness they see and feel, how they feel allowed and accepted and the power in creating whatever they desire. There is so much love in their actions.

We are creating a short film during our practice sessions with the kids to capture how the activities/ exercises we are doing with them are impacting them at a deeper level in terms of dropping judgements and accepting oneself and others with equality and love. “
