AVI USA P2P – Peer to Peer Fundraisers
Dear Auroville Friends and Supporters,
We are happy to introduce you to our Peer to Peer (P2P) fundraising tools. P2P fundraising is when your supporters reach out to their friends and family and invite them to donate to your project. They might do this for a specific initiative that you are raising funds for, for their birthday or another special occasion. Or they might decide to do something like a long trek or cycle trip and ask people to donate to your project in honor of their commitment.

The P2P Test Button leads to a sign-up portal where you can either start you own P2P fundraiser or join an existing team. Once you sign up, you will receive an email which grants you access to your own P2P tracking page. It also sends you a link for the project donation page, which you can then share with friends, family and others who may be interested in supporting the project. As your outreach groups starts donating, you will be able to track your emails and donations. You may then send thank you notes, encouragement and updates about the project to your donors, existing recipients who show interest, and if appropriate, ask them to join your team.
One of the biggest elements of fundraising is the personal connection. We always want to help our friends, and we want to hear directly from them why a project or a cause matters. The P2P format enables this personal connection and allows a supporter to more informally make your project visible to their circles.
Preapproval of your Project
AVI USA’s fundraising platform offers specific tools for creating and managing P2P campaigns. As an Auroville partner or project, you can use these tools to create a P2P for your project. In order to do so, your project has to be pre-approved to receive funds from AVI USA.

Website
Having a website makes it easier to manage and promote P2P fundraising. P2P buttons can be installed on both WordPress and Squarespace websites. Wix website can use buttons which send to a page that we can create for you on aviusa.org. WordPress or Squarespace give you the most control over how you conduct the fundraising.
The P2P software will be installed directly on your website, so that people don’t need to leave your website in order to set it up. If you don’t have a website but your project is pre-approved, email us and we’ll work out an alternative solution. If you do have a website, we can either send you code and instructions, or we can install the code if you grant us temporary website access.
The P2P fundraiser software is a simple tool that integrates with your project’s website and allows fans and supporters to send personalized emails to their friends and contacts to ask for their support for your enterprise. Each fundraiser gets their own donor portal that they can personalize and share with others. They will then be able to track donations and have personal contact with the donors thanking them and cheering them on, and giving them updates.
