BEAM Team Auroville

BEAM Team Auroville

BEAM Auroville provides simple, practical steps to help projects develop their fundraising capacity. They assess a project’s website, social media, newsletter, foot traffic, and data management systems and give simple recommendations on how to improve in each area. They help create an outline for goals, create timelines, and schedule regular meetings to support projects in accomplishing their objectives.

BEAM Auroville has four members: Amy, Enrica, Bala, and Verena. The team started work in January 2023.

BEAM’s common goal for all projects to develop a group of consistent monthly donors to provide a reliable revenue stream for the project. Each project also has its own unique goals, ranging from securing CSR funding to developing major donor relationships. BEAM works with the assumption that through developing a core group of monthly donors, other things will follow, like potential for major gifts, contacts for CSR funding, and a foundation for successful campaigns.

BEAM Is supported by AVI USA. Your contributions will help BEAM develop their work and help Auroville units grow and thrive💙

HOW BEAM WORKS:

BEAM members pair up for each project, with one member as the lead and the other as the backup. While both team members attend meetings with project managers, the BEAM lead will be the point person for communication.

The two members create a timeline of goals and a schedule of meetings, and they work closely with the unit to put into implement basic fundraising best practices.

In each meeting, the progress or challenges in achieving the goals is examined, and creative solutions unique to each unit are proposed and implemented.

WHAT BEAM DOES

In the first phase BEAM supports projects with implementing these initial steps:

  • using all available channels (website, social media, in person engagement, newsletters, etc) to make it clear that the project is supported by donations

  • making it clear that monthly donations are an easy way to support the long term sustainability of the project

  • making it clear how to donate with as few clicks as possible

  • sharing how donations are used, both by sharing data about who/what is impacted and by sharing personal stories about the direct impact

  • tracking donor data to facilitate targeted, consistent followup that matches each specific donor’s area of interest and reason for donating

  • creating a consistent, beautiful, personal eNewsletter using a reliable software platform and learning from the data provided by the platform about who is opening, clicking, and engaging with the content

After these first steps and basics are integrated, BEAM and individual projects can move on to advanced fundraising best practices.
