2024-2025 Ashram Trip Update

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Auroville!

We are touched and inspired by your generosity towards Outreach Summer trip to Nainital in 2024. The trip was a life time experience for all 36 students from surrounding villages studying at Isai Ambalam school and Aikiyam School.

The students time was divided between a daily regimen for building body and mind, and opening their perspective to see and view new things.

The basic day structure consisted of Keep Fit based on yoga asanas, breakfast,  mountaineering training (scrambling, bouldering, rappelling, river crossing) lunch, rest, trekking 3km 7km 11km 16 km, evening tea, talks on health and self-development, meditation, dinner and instructions for the next day.

They also visited important historical and spiritual sites like: Qutab Minar, Red Fort, Lotus Temple, and Akshardham, the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Mathura.

On behalf of the Outreach school trip many thanks and gratitude to have made this possible. This would not have successful without the support of our kind hearted well wishers and love for the village kids. This was a unique trip for all the participants. We hope that such trips will be possible in the near future. Thank you once again.

With love,

Sudhir

THE NEED

Rs.14000, the cost of the full trip is for each child, which includes a total of all travel, lodging and activity expenses.

Will you help send the children on this life changing trip to celebrate the completion of their school studies?

The Sri Aurobindo Ashram supports the children’s trip by greatly reducing the costs per child. The costs for the camp are Rs.8000/person and Delhi Ashram Rs. 800/person.

Thank you for being a generous sponsor for the trip!

All Donations are doubled!

Our fundraising goal reflects the matching funds from our generous sponsor and we already have a commitment for $2250!

About the Trip

Auroville Outreach School Ashram Trip

THE TRIP

Every year, students from Auroville’s Outreach Schools (Aikiyam, Isai Ambalam and Udavi) go on a school trip to Nainital base, Van Nivas, as the Himalayan Center of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram is called.  At Nainital Base, the students participate in  variety of trips and activities that are not accesible to them in their everyday village environment. They also take a tour of northern India, including Agra and the Taj Mahal, Mathura and Vrindavan.

THE NEED

For each child, the cost of the full trip is Rs.14000, which includes a total of all travel, lodging and activity expenses.

The Sri Aurobindo Ashram supports the children’s trip by greatly reducing the costs per child. Tara didi of the Delhi Sri Aurobindo Ashram extends the concession rate for the children, without which the trip would not be possible.

Other costs to cover, such as train tickets, Agra stay and tour, Delhi visits.

The costs for the camp are Rs.8000/person aand Delhi Ashram Rs. 800/person.

The outreach schools can only contribute partially, if at all for each child, and this year the expenses have increased by 40%.

THE ACTIVITIES

At Nainital base, some of the activities they immerse themselves in are a 5 day rock climbing trip, where they learn and practice scrambling, bouldering, rock climbing, rappelling and river crossing.

They also go on a 4 km trek to a hill viewing point, a 7km to Sri Aurobindo peak, 3km trek to the town, 4 km trek to a special Hanuman temple, 8 km to Tiffin top and finally 14 km trek to Naini peak to view Himalayas. Altogether the  children cover a distance of close to 40 km during the camp. The children improved their stamina and confidance in their physical and group activities, as well as developing a sense of deeper camaraderie.

During the stay at Nainital base, their camp program includes activities like morning yoga asanas, evening meditation and theatre workshops, to create a deeper learning and assimilation of their experiences.

The program has shown tremendous benefit to students, with noticeable transformations in their all around growth and expression. During and after this trip, students manifested a growing sense of courage and confidence, increased self-awareness and independence.

Please Join AVI USA and a generous sponsor to make this trip possible! Give the children of the Auroville bioregion the experience of this wonderful spiritual adventure camp that would not be possible without your generous gift!
