AVI USA Donor Development Training

On Monday, February 10th, AVI USA held a Donor Development Training in Auroville. The training was designed for AVI USA’s partners & projects leaders in Auroville, to discuss, create and collaborate in developing strategies for connecting with new donors.

The meeting, hosted at SAIIER hall was hours long, filled with curiosity, enthusiasm and creative ideas. Almost 50 project leaders, as well as AVI USA’s Beam support team,  were in attendance, ready with questions and expectations about what the session would bring.

The Mother’s Anniversary

The Mother, Mirra Alfassa, 1878-1973, is the creative force behind the birth of Auroville. Every year, during the fourth week of February, Auroville celebrates two anniversaries. The Mother’s birth, February 21, and Auroville’s creation, February 28th.

Every Soul Is Unique

Every Soul Is Unique is a co-creative musical play, performed by 70 children from the Auroville area, including children from outreach programs and special needs school. Fakeera, the creator, was moved to use the interplay of art, personal healing and spontaneous expression in a manner that would be a joyful opportunity for the children’s growth, using the medium of performing arts to reflect their accomplishments back to the children.

President’s Letter

Every day I’m working on practical matters elated to AVI USA’s mission. I work on financial reports and bookkeeping, on revisions to the website, and on reviewing applications and reports from projects in Auroville. I meet with AVI USA board members, team members, and project leaders in Auroville. I think about how to address immediate needs and how to prepare for the future.

I approach all this work as a kind of yoga. Auroville and AVI USA have grown out of Sri Aurobindo’s visionary approach to yoga, which is all-inclusive. There’s no compartmentalization between spiritual life and material life, or between work and spiritual practice. It’s all one movement. And it’s all for God. 

AVI USA’s Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Training

The  Volunteer Retention and Recruitment Workshop opened the discussion about developing an initiative by attracting enthusiastic, and potentially longterm volunteers. Finding and keeping volunteers within a growing project brings new ideas and energy. It gives a sense of change and progress, easing the workload on 

AVI USA and IDRF

Several months ago, AVI USA Director of Development, Binah Thillairajah, reached out to a sister nonprofit, IDRF, the India Development and Relief Fund, to jumpstart an AVI USA- IDRF collaboration in support of our Auroville partners. Learn about our first collaboration involving the support of Udavi School, the Ashram School Trip and Deepam School for Special Needs Children.

ATB at Madhuban Ashram

This March, Amir, a certified Awareness Through the Body trainer, led workshops at the Delhi and Madhuban Sri Aurobindo Ashrams. AVI USA board member Julian Lines was there to bring us the story.
